Founder
and President, BookSite
Richard S. Harte started BookSite.com in 1994 as an Internet
application service provider specializing in e-commerce
applications for the publishing industry and independent
booksellers. Dick graduated from The Ohio State University
in 1968 with Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees
in Business. Dick spent 12 years in corporate finance positions
with RCA and with Borden, finishing as Director of Banking
and Cash Management. During the next 10 years he was Vice
President at two regional brokerage firms in Ohio, the Ohio
Company and McDonald & Co. in Institutional Sales and Investment
Banking. Dick also was a part-time lecturer on the Adjunct
Faculty of Finance at Ohio State from 1980 through 1993,
prior to the launch of BookSite.
Michael
A. Zibart, Co-Founder
President and Publisher, BookPage
Book industry veteran Michael A. Zibart began his career
as a clerk in his family's 100-year-old bookstore in Nashville,
Tennessee. He worked at Zibart Bros. Bookstore through high
school and college and received his Bachelor of Arts degree
from Vanderbilt University. Zibart joined Ingram Book Co.
in 1970 as a management trainee in the new trade division.
He was a buyer in the trade division from 1970-76, served
as Vice President and Trade Division Manager of Ingram Book
Co. from 1976-85, and as Executive Vice President from 1985-88.
He also founded and served as president of Ingram Audio
from its inception in 1986 to 1988. In 1988, Zibart founded
ProMotion, Inc. to provide services to publishers and booksellers.
He began publishing BookPage later that year and in the
15 years since, the publication known as "America's Book
Review" has developed a loyal following among book lovers
across the country.
