Library Branding

Each page in the BookLetters Module is customized to carry the branding of your library. We show your logos, your hours, your phone numbers, email address, directions, events, etc. We feel as funding sources become more dear, establishing your brand in the minds of the patrons will help them become more aware and appreciative of the services you provide.

Outbound Communication

Built into BookLetters is an email newsletter-broadcasting feature that allows your library to reach out to your patrons with book information geared to their personal interests. You can add unique library information on your events, community activities, and programs.

Patron-Friendly Inbound Web Traffic Generator

BookLetters newsletters includes numerous links back to your website and OPAC. BookLetters allows you to replace "built it and they will come" strategies that seldom generate the desired web site usage, with a continual stream of information, invitations, introductions, and practical reasons for patrons to use your web services.

Staff-Friendly Tool Kit

A one page administrative tool allows non-technical library staff to instantly and easily control the entire BookLetters module with point and click aids.

BookLetters

14 genre specific newsletters are automatically distributed to subscribing patrons on a monthly or semi-monthly basis through an integrated email server. These newsletters primarily feature BookPage reviews and are maintained entirely by the BookLetters staff. These lists can be used as newsletters, web pages, or both.

Meet the Author

One author is featured each week. This item can be used as an email newsletter, web page, or both. The feature carries an interview with the author and listing of related works by the author. About 1/3 of the features are presented as handwritten questionnaires.

Custom Newsletters

Libraries can create listings for up to 5 custom email newsletters. These lists can also be used as web pages.

Author Directory

Probably the most extensive directory on the web, it contains 1,000 past author interviews from BookPage, Publishers, and Author sites.

Newsletter sign-up page

Selected newsletters offered to patrons are automatically generated on a patron-friendly sign-up web page. Libraries can add their own instructions in an opening message block.

Bestseller and Award Lists

BookLetters maintains an ever-growing selection of Bestseller and Award lists that Libraries can add to their existing web site. These lists are automatically updated each week eliminating the need for library staff maintenance.

Custom Web Pages and Edit Module

3 web pages can be customized for navigation to plug into existing web sites or as the entire library website for libraries that have none. All other branding templates such as the "header" and "navigation bar" can also be edited from this module. All edits are implemented immediately and can be viewed for accuracy. This is a very easy tool for non-technical staff to operate.

Custom Linking

All BookLetters, Custom Feature, Bestseller, Award, Author, and Book Detail Pages can be added to existing library web sites or organized into a new Library web site through the use of the custom linking feature.

Custom Reviews

Libraries can customize book descriptions by adding their own reviews or borrowing reviews prepared by other libraries. This feature has been referred to as Napster™ for librarians.

Resource Center

A collection of helpful information including newsletter distribution schedules, archive of reviewed titles, advance notice of future featured titles, promotional ideas, help desk access, and helpful web page and newsletter tips is continually updated by BookLetters.

Branch and Event Traffic Generator

e-newsletter lists provide a cost free means of building traffic in the physical world as well. Add custom messages to e-newsletters informing patrons of special events and inviting them to visit the nearest branch anytime.

Rich Web Content

All 40 book lists, 1,000 author pages and 1 million book pages of rich BookLetters content carries your library branding and can be linked to your existing website. Best of all the content is maintained for you and requires no special expertise, additional licensing fees, or web design expenses to use.

Painless Cost Savings

Most libraries find that the costs of obsolete services will immediately and overwhelmingly cover the cost of BookLetters. BookLetters is ideal for libraries that are interested in meeting tightening budgets while keeping staff cuts and patron service cuts to a minimum, and providing the necessary tools to remaining staff to help them do more with less.
